‘Largest ever unreserved machinery sale’ takes place on 30 October

Leading West Country agricultural contractor Curtis Contractors is holding what is thought to be the UK’s largest unreserved sale of modern agricultural machinery in Devon next month with auctioneer Brown & Co.

Based at Yarcombe in Devon, Curtis Contractors operates primarily in the West Country as well as providing specialist services to farmers throughout the UK as well as in France and Ireland.

This dispersal sale includes nine 2008 Fendt Tractors, three Claas Lexion Combines, two Claas self-propelled foragers, a 2007 Bateman sprayer and two Claas Quadrant balers.

Curtis Contractors was set up by husband-and-wife team Robert and Karen Curtis 20 years ago. The couple have recently purchased an arable farm in Canada and plan to emigrate there in the spring.

“This is an exceptional sale and is almost certainly the largest unreserved auction of farm machinery ever held in this country,” said auctioneer Ken Pritchard. “We’re predicting a good turnout with buyers attending from across the UK and overseas.”

The sale also includes a wide range of cultivation and silage making equipment. All lots will be offered without reserve.

Curtis Contractors’ other business interests, including engineering and civil contracting, will continue to operate as normal.

The sale field is next to the A303 just north of the village of Yarcombe, Devon and signs will direct visitors to the field. The sale takes place at 10.30am on Thursday 30 October, with viewing from 9am to 4pm the day before (29 Oct) and on the morning of the sale.

The full catalogue for the sale is on the Brown and Co website or phone 01652 654 833 for details.
