McConnel is set to show its new range of arable rollers at Cereals next week.
The new additions to the Shropshire firm’s arable line-up are the first fruits of its recent merger with Twose of Tiverton.
There’s the choice of three-, five- and seven-gang Consolidator rollers with working widths stretching from 6.4m up to 18.4m.
Triple sealed bearings and 65mm steel shafts are standard spec and each centre section pivots independently to try and follow the undulations of the ground for better seed-to-soil contact. A grooved ring profile also helps with constant soil pressure to encourage better moisture retention and leave a weather-proof finish.
There are four different roller configurations available with the choice of 22in or 24in Cambridge rings, which can both be ordered with or without Cambridge breakers.
The option list includes spring-mounted levelling boards to smash clods and plough ridges. Two rows of 8mm spring tines are also available to spread trash and encourage volunteers to germinate when working on stubbles.
