New way to measure water acidity

ACIDIFYING WATER to improve hygiene for pigs has now been made easier with the development of a Water Hygiene Plan from feed specialists Frank Wright.

Incorporating the BASF buffered organic acid product Lupro-Mix NC, the plan is a rapid, effective and cheap method of testing water quality, says the company. An agar covered slide is dipped in a sample of water, incubated and the following day will show the level of bacterial contamination. It will also determine whether water treatment with Lupro-Mix NC is necessary, adds Frank Wright.

The Water Hygiene Plan is available free of charge from Frank Wright and dip slides cost about £2 from BASF Animal Nutrition stockists (01335 341 102; fax 01335 341 171).
