DO producers realise that free vet visits are available when a cow aborts?

"Although it will cost about £22 to have the sample analysed, early diagnosis may prevent it spreading through the herd and allow appropriate treatment," said Derby vet Chris Parker.

"Abortion is a notifiable condition so MAFF will pay for a vet to visit the farm and take samples from infected cows."

"Although it will cost the producer about £22 to have the samples analysed at a VI centre to find the cause of abortion, early diagnosis may prevent it spreading through the herd and allow appropriate treatment."
