Animal activists suspected after blast
ANIMAL welfare activists are believed to be behind an explosion at an Oxfordshire meat-packing firm on Sunday (21 May).
Army bomb disposal experts were called after a firebomb ignited under a refrigeration lorry at Mutchmeats Ltd, in Witney, reports The Guardian.
Investigators found nine other devices in the compound, which they made safe.
While no group claimed responsibility, indications are that the Animal Liberation Front was responsible for the attack.
Last year 1 million-worth of damage was caused when 19 lorries were set on fire at Unigate Dairies in Oxford and four at a poultry firm in Banbury.
