Anti-hunt campaigners fight back
ANTI-hunt campaigners have released previously unseen video footage of a deer being attacked by stag hounds in the latest salvo in the battle to ban hunting.
The campaigners hope the video will counter renewed attempts by the pro-hunting lobby to overturn the ban on deer hunting in large parts of the West country.
The League Against Cruel Sports said the pictures countered assertions that the hunted stags are brought to bay before being humanely shot at close range.
The move came as the Countryside Alliance published details of a scientific study which it said refuted claims that hunting was stressful for the animals involved.
The alliances chief executive said the National Trust should reconsider its ban in the wake of the new research.
