Anti-hunt lobby to sell West Country land
THE League Against Cruel Sports is selling about 40.47ha (100 acres) of the 809.4ha (2,000 acres) it owns in the West Country.
It has acquired the blocks of land over many years to frustrate stag-hunting on Exmoor and the Quantock hills.
League officials say the sale is for strategic reasons and that hunting rights will not be passed on to the new owners.
The Guardian says it understands the decision has split the organisations ruling executive committee.
There are rumours that further blocks of land have been earmarked for sales but officials refute this.
