MOST popular young sire currently being used by AI companies wordwide is the Mandel son Robthom M Discovery, according to a survey carried out by Holstein International (Vol 4, Apr 97). Discovery, out of the well known American cow Robthom Ruby Aerostar, was the most widely used young sire by the 48 AI organisations in the survey. The pedigree index for this young sire at 29% reliablity is 1197kg milk, 27kg (-0.26%), protein 34kg (-0.06%), ITEM £121 and PIN £116. The bull is available in the UK from Semen World priced £16 a straw.
