Beefeaters at the Tower of London met beef eaters from the south-west last week as the Great Britain, Great Beef campaign – aimed at getting the beef export ban lifted – came to the capital. Organisers Martyn Sullivan, Jeremy Davis and Dean Pitman, all non-farmers who began the campaign after a local farming friend committed suicide, have already collected 27,000 signatures of support. NFU deputy president Tim Bennett joined them in London to add his name to the petition which will be handed to EU Commission officials in Brussels next month.
