YFC Round-up

RESULTS of the NFYFC Carcass Judge of the Year competition, which took place at the National Primestock Show, Staffs, are as follows: Senior section 1 Clive Langford, Montgomery; 2 David Marsh, Gloucestershire,; 3 James Hughes, Hereford-shire B. Intermediate 1 Anita Williams, Devon A; 2 Richard Morgan, Shropshire; 3 Christine Hope, Herefordshire B.

lMembers of Pleaseley YFC, Derbyshire have raised £1200 for the East Midlands Childrens Hospice through sponsorship and sales of produce after a charity potato grow on 1 acre of loaned land.

&#8226 Strut your Straw was what Lincolnshire federation called their latest publicity stunt, which they believe to be their most successful ever. The challenge to each club in the federation was to build a straw bale structure in a field beside a main road and wrap it with a club banner – a challenge that was readily accepted. It drew much media attention.

&#8226 Helston and St Keverne YFC, Cornwall has raised £4000 towards the cost of building a new ward at Treliske Hospital, Truro, to treat children with cancer. An auction of promises was one of the most successful fund raising activities.

&#8226 At Staffordshire federations annual meeting awards for outstanding officers went to Nigel Moss (chairman), Angela Goodfellow (secretary) and Angela Heath (treasurer while Mark Smith of Dove Valley and Chris Broom of Lichfield shared the club leader award.

&#8226 Bassingbourn and District YFC, Herts is planning to celebrate its 50th anniversary on Sat, June 26 and is seeking past members and friends. Contact Mrs E Huffer (01763-852383).
