Close to the edge…

INDEPENDENT folding booms on the Knight sprayer allow operators to spray close to field edges and obstructions – and maximise cropping areas.

It has been designed specfically to help growers reduce wheeling damage on the headlands. A suspension system compensates for the uneven loading created by independent booms on the sprayer chassis and supports the section of boom in use. It also has a new patented attitude control system for fast-response boom levelling. The folding operation is carried out from the cab.

The boom is mounted on a triple-roller mast with Knights patented anti-yaw system and contour-following suspension.

Two sprayers with the new boom design have been built for Nocton Ltd near Lincoln, one tractor-mounted and the other trailed. The mounted sprayer was chosen specifically for a new daffodil venture; 240ha (600 acres) down to daffodils over the next two years.

Another Knight-mounted sprayer with independent boom folding has been built for the companys 200ha (500-acre) bulb and flower unit in Cornwall.
