Cardiganshire prime lamb producer Michael Owens, of Glantre, Llandysul, scooped the championship and reserve in a carcass competition organised by leading exporters Hamer International. The event was part of an open day at the companys plant at Llanidloes in Powys, which attracted more than 1200 farmers. Many of Mr Owens Beltex and Texel-sired lambs are sold through the Farm Assured Welsh Lamb/Waitrose scheme based at the abattoir since 1993.
