Baler-wrappers hit high spots in Eire

BALER-WRAPPER combinations are creating a good deal of interest in Ireland, reports Tanco. It is a situation, says the company, fuelled by two factors: one is the acute shortage of farm labour and the other is the increasing reliance on contractors who seek to streamline their operations.

Tancos investment in such units has been substantial. At last years Ploughing Event, the company launched the innovative BalerWrapper which uses its bale chamber both to form and wrap bales.

Plans are to produce ten machines this year for field testing at home and the UK with commercial production commencing in 2002.

Tanco is also marketing the Orkel bale-wrapper combination. Bales are formed by the Orkel GP 1250 baler which uses 18 chain driven rollers to produce 1.2m diameter bales. These are delivered to a Finland-built Agronic twin satellite wrapper which completes the operation while another bale is being formed.

Output of the dual or single axled combination is said to be up to 35 bales an hour and prices start at about £37,500.
