Bank Holiday cattle trade averages 85p/kg

FINISHED cattle at yesterdays Bank Holiday auctions averaged 85p/kg, according to the Meat and Livestock Commission.


Steers gained 0.59p on the week and commanded an overall average of 85.16p/kg. Light steers made 80.29p/kg, medium steers 86.34p/kg, and heavy steers 85.03p/kg.


Heifers eased 0.30p to 84.79p/kg. Light heifers made 86.71p/kg, medium heifers 84.55p/kg, and heavy heifers 84.74p/kg.


Young bulls lost almost 2p to 85.78p/kg. Light bulls made 84.96p/kg, medium bulls 86.15p/kg, and heavy bulls 85.44p/kg.


More than 2,400 cattle were sold at 32 auctions held across England and Wales.
