Bio-tech warning

EU farm commissioner Franz Fischler has warned that the EU risks losing 200,000 jobs due to its hostile attitude towards biotechnology.

Speaking in Vienna on Wednesday, Mr Fischler quoted a survey by researchers at Sussex University, which reveals that the USA currently employs 118,000 people compared with only 27,500 in the EU.
