WEST Country Blonde dAquitaine breeder Graham Barber won the championship and sold two of the days highest prices at the breed societys mid-summer fixture at Carlisle.
But he didnt claim the days biggest cheque that went to a 4000gns call for Fountains Samson, who took the reserve championship for owners C and J R Terry and Sons, Ripon, North Yorks. Samson is out of a Whistley Dollar dam.
Mr Barbers Crediton-based herd won the tricolour with Megray Senator, a son of Kedworthy Mine and out of a Fortescue cow by Dodo, taken at 3000gns by T * Harrison and Sons, Shap, Cumbria.
Fellow west-country farmer R Mitchell claimed the other Megray bull after a long trip from Newquay, Cornwall. He gave 3100gns for Megray Recipe, who was by a home-bred son of Everest and out of reserve female champion at the 2000 Royal Show, Megray Olivia.
Averages: 13 bulls £1875 and six females £649 (Harrison & Hetherington). *
