BPA gears up to fund action on pig plight

THE British Pig Association has set up a fighting fund to provide financial backing for groups involved in front-line action to rescue the countrys pig industry.
BPA chairman John Godfrey said contributions were flowing in from allied industries to maintain the activities of producers seeking a better deal from supermarkets.
The fund, he said, was critical in maintaining the momentum of direct action in the weeks and months ahead and he appealed to all sectors of the industry to make a cash contribution.
To date, £10,000 has been raised. “The money is being used to cover the costs of things like printing leaflets to be handed out to shoppers and publicising meetings,” said Mr Godfrey.
