THE Grotto (sometimes called The Grove), Lower Basildon, Herts, was used by the Womens Land Army during the war. THE British Horse Society has won a Prince Michael Road Safety award for the video Horse Sense for Motorists produced as part of its Safety 2000 campaign.
More than 3000 road accidents involving horses are recorded each year and during the current year they have killed nine people.
The 11-minute video, which shows motorists what to do if they meet a horse and rider on the road, is available free of charge to organisations and others who can present it to groups of people. THE Farm Holiday Bureau has come up with a bright new promotion: Stay on a Farm gift tokens worth £5, 10 or £20.

THE Arthur Rank Centre – the Churches Ecumenical Resource Centre for Rural Mission based at the National Agricultural Centre – is to receive funding from the Allchurches Trust to encourage youth work in rural areas.
The money will be used to defray the costs of attending or organising training courses for youth leaders of any denomination, or to provide resources such as audio-visual aids, hire of premises or transport.
