Brit beef raided

THE arrival of British beef for a celebratory lunch at a French restaurant in Amiens, Picardy, sent authorities into a panic this week.

The 30lbs of fillet steak had been taken to France by French farmers who feel that the case of their British farming colleagues is not being heard properly on their side of the Channel.

The Frenchmen organised a lunch in the restaurant to be addressed by a British Euro MP.

But French authorities, including the French internal security police, arrived just before the main course was due to be served and confiscated the offending meat.

Meanwhile, Conservative MEPs were detained by the French National Guard as they protested in Paris on Wednesday. The group marched down the Champs Elysees, but were later escorted to their train.

back to Brussels.
