Brown to lift beef-on-bone ban?

THE government is set to make a major announcement on the lifting of the beef on the bone ban, Farmers Weekly has learned.
Farm minister Nick Brown could lift the controversial ban when he speaks in the House of Commons on Tuesday (30 November), say government sources.
Mr Brown has said he expects the ban to end before Christmas. A special “beef summit” meeting has been scheduled at Downing Street for Wednesday (01 December).
Prime Minister Tony Blair will breakfast with beef industry leaders, where topics for discussion include the ban and French reluctance to accept British beef.
Speculation that the ban will be lifted has also been fuelled by a new report from Oxford University scientists which concluded beef on the bone is safe.
