Buoyant dispersal

CARLISLE auctioneer Edward Brown was in confident mood last week following the dispersal of 100 non-pedigree dairy cattle.

"There is still a commitment to the future of dairying," he said after achieving an average of £761 for 78 cows.

The sale was held for Scottish dairy farmer Sandy Innes, Nairn, who is well known for his successful Moyness Charolais herd.

Top call came from W Lawson, Motherwell, who gave £1500 for a second calver by Ernespie Lazer predicted to give 9800kg (Harrison and Hetherington).
