Campaign rolls on in Covent Garden
HOT beef rolls, apples and flowers were the order of the day in Londons Covent Garden yesterday (Thursday) as the next phase of the NFUs Keep Britain Farming campaign began.
About 20 farmers wives from around the country handed out the produce at one of the capitals top tourist destinations.
As well as the goodies, the women also distributed the unions new leaflets which aim to dispel many of the myths and misconceptions about agriculture. Topics include the environment, food safety and why farming is subsidised.
The Covent Garden event marked the start of a nationwide public information campaign involving "farm info points", where farmers and their families will go to towns and cities to talk to the public about how food is produced and to answer consumers questions.
