CAP reformer interviewed by the FT


THEFinancial Times interviews the man charged with pushing through the reform of the common agricultural policy (CAP).


Joschka Fischer, Germanys foreign minister, hopes to have wrapped up the Agenda 2000 reforms on agricultural reform by the end of March.


Fischer admits he is prepared to make compromises but is not prepared to make them “at any price”.

He has to square the French and German agricultural lobbies with southern European demands for aid and Germanys own demand for cuts in its budgetary contributions.
