Caterpillar strikes labour deal with US union
CATERPILLAR and the United Auto Workers union of the USA agreed on a six-year pact late on Sunday. The deal gives the company a more flexible labour force at its 14 US plants.
It puts it on a more equal footing with some of its competitors such as John Deere, which signed a labour pact last year allowing it to take on new workers at lower wage rates.
