Centre staff fears
SENIOR staff at MAFFs animal health studies centre at Tolworth, Surrey, which plays a key role in BSE investigations, may be forced to resign after the government decided to shut the site.
Staff at Tolworth say they cannot afford the move to central London and will look for jobs elsewhere.
And they claimed that animal health files from Tolworth would not be located in London but moved to a MAFF site at Hayes, Middx, which would mean a minimum three-hour turnaround time for files to pass between the two sites. *
