Charity’s bargain from FWi-Exchange
A FARM training centre for young adults with disabilities has purchased a piece of farm machinery at a bargain price from FWis online auction site.
Easter Anguston farm at Peterculter, near Aberdeen, purchased a 1370 Bomford-Turner rotary slasher from FWi-Exchange for just 590.
George Philip, Easter Angustons farm manager, said he was absolutely delighted at the purchase because the organisation is a charity.
“There is no way we could have paid anything like the list price for the mower. Without the auction, it would have had to be one of lesser quality.”
Trainees at the farm are taught horticultural and agricultural skills in a specially adapted programme to suit the trainees abilities.
The pioneering farm training centre was established in 1972 to address the lack of adequate training opportunities for young people with learning disabilities.
It is run by Voluntary Service Aberdeen and now has 15 full time resident trainees although other trainees also go to work there on a daily basis.
Tim Garrett, director of marketing at Bomford-Turner, which supplied the rotary slasher, said the machine would be delivered soon.
“Well put it on a low-loader to go up with our regular delivery to our dealer and if Im in the area Ill certainly call in.”
