China’s bid to joint WTO under review

CHINAS bid to join the World Trade Organisation (WTO) is due to be reviewed on Friday.

But existing WTO members want China to further liberalise agriculture and services.

China wants to be a WTO member by the time new global trade talks begin at the end of next year. But the east Asian crisis and upheavals in Chinas state sector has dampened its enthusiasm for making the concessions required of it.
