Clinton announces new food council

PRESIDENT Clinton has announced a new Council on Food Safety aimed at co-ordinating government measures to protect the US food supply.
It is being set up following concern about several recent outbreaks of food poisoning.
The council will be chaired jointly by the food and health secretaries. Members will include the commerce secretary and the White Houses domestic policy adviser.
