College claims compensation
BISHOP Burton agricultural college in East Yorkshire is claiming compensation from the Department for Education and Skills after losing more than £200,000 during the foot-and-mouth crisis.
The college has finally re-opened its farm to students and visitors after Britain was declared free of the disease.
During the crisis hundreds of students who lived in infected areas were forced to stay away and study at home on the internet.
The colleges calendar of events, including the popular Town and Country Day, was cancelled as part of precautions to stop the spread of the disease. *
