Company name change
WEST Devon and North Cornwall Farmers is to change from a mutual and provident society to a private limited company called Countrywest Trading from May 1.
Manager David Braund said 98% of shareholders who voted supported the proposals. The change would mean the company could increase its share capital to help finance business growth. It plans to open two new retail outlets each year for the next five years while still continuing its core activities of feed compounding and machinery sales and repairs.
Over the past 15 years the number of shareholders has almost halved to 1300 and investment has dropped from £800,000 to £500,000. *
