Corn returned as feed
FARMWAY has launched a new scheme, taking corn from its customers and incorporating it back into their feed.
Farmers send grain to the co-ops Piercebridge site in County Durham then, as feed is ordered, they are charged only for the non-cereal fraction of the diet.
The farmer retains ownership of the crop, and has the option of selling it.
No storage charge is paid.
The firms Douglas Chalmers says: "Lower grain prices mean that farmers with livestock will look to adding value to their crops – and one way is to feed it to their animals, which also helps ease cash flow."n
