Tractor vandals cause £30,000 of damage in overnight raid

A farmer is counting the cost after vandals stormed his farm and caused around £30,000 of damage to tractors and crops.

Raiders broke into three tractors at a farm in Wainfleet St Mary, Skegness, and drove them around a 1.6ha (4 acre) field of newly planted cauliflowers under polythene.

Significant damage was then caused to the tractors and trailers and a radio unit was stolen.

Lincolnshire Police are hunting a number of offenders in connection with the attack which happened overnight Sunday (11 April).

The farm vandalism came in a busy 24-hour period for police in the Skegness region, as officers were also called to two thefts in nearby Alford.

In one incident a yellow hydraulic excavator was taken from a farm at Tots Hill, Station Road.
