Crofters raise £110,000 to buy estate

THE people of Bhaltos, on the west coast of Lewis, have raised £110,000 to buy their 690ha (1704 acre) crofting estate. There are 70 crofting tenants. Highlands and Islands Enterprise made a £50,000 grant towards the acquisition.
