Cutting out drift with a cone nozzle

LATEST nozzle development from Billericay Farm Services comes in the form of a low drift cone jet which, says the company, is suitable for knapsack and conventional boom sprayers.

Developed as a joint venture with Du Pont, the Air Bubble Cone nozzle employs the same air inclusion system as the Billericay Air Bubble Jet. Fluid entering the nozzle passes through a tapered aperture which accelerates the fluid into a venturi which sucks in air through slots on the side of the nozzle. The mixture of air and fluid is then swirled before passing through the cone nozzle.

Operating pressure is from 1.5 bar to 14 bar and Billericay says that trials have shown that when operated at 7 bar the nozzles were as effective as hollow cones operating at twice that pressure with a much reduced risk of drift. UK trials are set to continue this year with the company expecting the new nozzles to be available commercially in the near future.

The Air Bubble Cone nozzle is the latest development from Billericay Farm Services. Risk of spray drift is reduced, says the company.
