Dairy ‘still best on limited acreage’
FAMILY-SCALE dairy farming is still the best long-term option on a limited acreage, according to the Bank of Scotlands senior agricultural adviser.
Stuart Elder tells The Scotsman that, while low prices for milk make life extremely difficult at the present time, it had made a decent living possible in the past and could do so again in the future.
But he emphasised that the immediate challenge for farmers was to survive.
