Dairy windfall after NMR takeover
By FWi staff
DAIRY farmers could be in line for a windfall of almost 7 million after the proposed take-over of NMR Farm Services by the Cattle Information Service (CIS).
The move will mean the winding-up of parent group National Milk Records plc, formed after the dissolution of the England and Wales Milk Marketing Board in 1994.
“The expectation is that by the middle of next year, the 28,000 shareholders will receive a payment of 80-90p a share,” said a spokesman for NMR.
“The aim is to help dairy farmers manage their business efficiently by removing duplication, with a fully integrated recording, registration and passport application service,” said CIS chairman, David Hewitt.
