Decision soon on ‘BSE sheep’
THE US department of Agriculture will learn on Monday whether it has the right to destroy three flocks of sheep it suspects of having BSE
Four of the sheep, which were exported from Belgium to Vermont in 1996, tested positive for an unidentified transmissible spongiform encephalopathy (TSE).
Flock owners have challenged the decision to slaughter the flocks after tests proved inconclusive, reports the BBC Radio 4 Farming Today programme.
Belgium wants the sheep returned to Europe for monitoring and tests.
