‘Delay double tagging to October’

DOUBLE tagging will be enforced from 15 June, but the Animal Health Distribution Association is demanding a delay until 1 October because of a six-week backlog in processing tag orders.

The association has attacked MAFF for persisting with the deadline after informing them that it was carrying out a survey among its 447 suppliers to find out the extent of the backlog.

The survey showed that 43% of merchants still had orders outstanding which were placed with the tag makers in 1997.
