Drought to hit Bangladesh jute?
SOME 12% of jute production in Bangladesh is expected to be lost because of the drought, according to the Bangladesh Jute Mills Association.
The association expects production to reach 3.5 million 181kg bales this year, against 3.5m bales last time.
There will be an additional 1.6m bales available as carry over from last year.
The countrys jute mills are expected to use 2.8m bales while 1.8m bales are exported.
