DuPont reports record sales
US chemicals and agribusiness group DuPont came in above Wall Street forecasts with record sales in the fourth-quarter.
But underlying fourth-quarter profit was down — to $583 million, compared with $682m last time — because of lower selling prices and costs.
Total sales for the quarter were up 17% at $7.1bn. The group booked a $2.2bn charge to write off research and development costs at the recently acquired seed company Pioneer Hi-Bred International.
