‘Eco-terrorists’ target GM crops testing sites
AN open day for farmers and the media to look at plots of genetically modified crops had to be cancelled yesterday following threats from “eco-terrorists”.
Arable Research Centres, a body organising tests of GM crops, was forced to cancel yesterdays open day near Andover, Hampshire. It was intended to give farmers an idea of the benefits or otherwise of growing the crops.
Meanwhile, a farmer in Ireland, where trials are also taking place, has received death threats, and UK police are warning those running trials to expect problems.
