EU — Banana rule change must wait
THE European Union said it was finding difficulty changing the rules governing the import of bananas which are in breach of world trade regulations.
The delay is likely to mean that US sanctions imposed in retaliation will remain in place for several months.
The EU claimed its problems stem from the recent establishment of the new European Commission.
The commission is not expected to be in a position to propose changes to the import rules for several months because of the disruption to its operations.
