Extra time for GM trials?

TRIALS of genetically modified crops might have to be extended for another year because so many farmers have quit the experiment, reports The Express.

Trials of GM fodder maize and spring oilseed rape are on the verge of becoming a “serious embarrassment” reports the paper.

FWi reported claims that the GM trials are on the verge of collapse as another farmer pulled out on Wednesday (14 June).

Only the minimum number of farmers – 12 for each crop – which government scientists say are needed to make the trials valid, are now taking part.
