Farm crisis hits colleges

ONE In three agricultural colleges have serious cash problems due to falling farm incomes, according to the National Audit Office.

These rely heavily on their own farms for extra income, but this has dwindled as livestock prices have fallen, reports The Times.

An NAO spokesman said that, as agricultural colleges receive proportionally less of their funding from the Further Education Funding Council than other institutions, they are more vulnerable to the economic climate.
