Farmers For Action has said it is going ahead with its three day food production strike which will run from Nov 2-4.
Chairman David Handley said over 2000 farmers have contacted the organisation to pledge their support, so it had decided to proceed.
“We think we have enough support to do what we need to do,” he said.
“I think in some areas of the country, there will be shortages of food on the shelves.”
Mr Handley said he wanted to warn consumers to buy perishable goods ahead of the food strike.
He added that further food strikes would undoubtedly follow in the run up to Christmas.
