Your view on the reshuffle and what it means for the farming industry?

The farming industry is only just starting to get to grips with what the Cabinet reshuffle means for the sector.

The picture is not clear on what impact the creation of the new department for energy and climate change will have. There is also concern about the loss of junior DEFRA minister Lord Rooker who has decided to stand down.

As FW editor Jane King has noted on her blog, removing climate change from the portfolio could mean that DEFRA is able to concentrate more on production agriculture.

But columnist David Richardson has also blogged on the issue and he feels that the new department shows the government is – once again – putting environmental issues ahead of food security.

You can join in the conversation with both Jane and David on their blogs. Or add your thoughts to the forum thread that has also developed on the issue.
