MIDLANDS farmer co-op Meadow Valley Livestock saw 36% drop in drop in profits, to £152,599, in the year ended Dec 31, 1997. Turnover fell more than 5% to £48m due to depressed stock values.
Pig numbers rose to a record 410,000, while sheep and cattle numbers were stable, at 113,000

Pig numbers rose to a record 410,000, while sheep and cattle numbers were stable, at 113,000 and 33,000 respectively.
The company is investing an undisclosed sum in Meadow Premier, a group which will provide traceable stock to supermarkets to boost members returns.
