Farmland birds on the decline


INTENSIVE farming is being blamed for the latest decline in farmland birds such as skylarks, the latest census of wild birds has disclosed.


The Breeding Birds survey reports some 20 species have declined.


The survey shows that some species declining generally across Britain are actually increasing in Scotland.

Scotlands population of red grouse has increased by 44% in five years.
