Farms open up to the public

THE NFU IS inviting the public on to farms across the UK this summer, in an effort to draw town and country communities closer together.

A programme of hundreds of farm-based activities and events will begin this weekend (23-25 May) as the See Britain Farming campaign is launched.

Events include farm open days, village fetes and agricultural shows, throughout the country giving people the chance to learn about food and farming, an NFU official said.

The Farm Wildlife Advisory Group is running guided walks around farms across Britain while the National Federation of Young Farmers Clubs will be holding rallies with hedge-laying and sheep shearing competitions.

Details of events for this spring bank holiday and for the rest of the summer, can be obtained by calling freephone 0800-192192.
