FFAblockades still in action

FARMERS For Action have continued their blockades of supermarket depots and dairies in the past week. Tesco has been their main supermarket target. Some depots have been blockaded for up to five nights in a row.

Tesco insists that FFA requests for 5p/pint on supermarket milk prices, with the full 5p passed straight back to producers, would be illegal.

Up to individual

FFA says it would not be price-fixing because the rest of the price would be up to individual supermarkets. The FFA is taking further legal advice on this point, and also on what forms of protest might be considered legal in the light of modern interpretations.

Police supervising a protest at Tescos Didcot, Berks, depot distributed leaflets explaining the law to protesters who then dispersed but returned later with reinforcements. The blockades have resulted in some stores being short of goods.
